Dental Implant Consultation
When you lose a tooth it is important to replace it as soon as possible. The most popular way to replace a missing tooth is through a dental implant, a false tooth that looks and performs like a real tooth. Not only are missing teeth unattractive, but a missing tooth can compromise the strength of your jaw bone and expose your surrounding teeth and gums to bacteria. Replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant can keep your jaw bone strong and prevent your surrounding teeth from shifting.
Dental Implant Health Checklist
Implant dentistry uses some of the most advanced dental technology available to replace missing teeth, but not everyone is a candidate for dental implants. We can determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants through an oral exam that checks:
- Jaw bone health
- Gum health
- Overall health
A good candidate for implant dentistry must meet these three requirements and be a non-smoker, or the dental implant is unlikely to be successful. We can test your oral health using digital X-rays, which allow us to see weaknesses in your jaw bone tissue, and through an oral exam to check the health of your gums and surrounding teeth.
Dental Implant Consultation Process
When you visit our office for your implant dentistry consultation, you will first meet with Dr. Quigless’ assistant, who will make sure we have your correct medical and dental information. She will take digital X-rays and may also examine your mouth. After meeting with his assistant, you will meet with Dr. Quigless who will perform his own examination of your mouth and discuss your dental goals with you.
If your gums and jaw bone seem to be in good condition, Dr. Quigless may recommend traditional dental implants or may offer mini dental implants instead. After you have decided together which dental implant is right for you, he may begin the process or ask you to schedule an appointment to begin. However, if Dr. Quigless determines during your implant dentistry consultation that you are not a good candidate for dental implants, may instead recommend a dental bridge.
Whether or not you are a good candidate for dental implants, you do not have to live with missing teeth. Dr. Quigless can replace your missing teeth and keep your smile healthy and beautiful for years to come.
