Tooth Whitening
St. Louis, Missouri

Everyone wants white, bright, clean and healthy-looking teeth. Over time, our teeth lose their luster and become dull or even discolored. White teeth signify youth, health, and good hygiene. Tooth whitening can restore the shine and beauty of your smile, even minimizing the appearance of small imperfections. Cosmetic dentist Dr. Quigless offers in-office whitening and customized take-home kits. You decide how white you want to go, and how fast you want to get there. You might be surprised at how white your teeth are capable of becoming.
In-office whitening
You can get the fastest, most dramatic results from our in-office whitening procedure. It is quick and painless and can lighten your teeth up to about 8 shades in one visit.
Dr. Quigless uses the Rembrandt tooth whitening system. A whitening gel is applied to your teeth, and then a special light is used to intensify the whitening action. The light will not heat your teeth or gums. The entire process takes about two hours.
You may prefer the in-office treatment if you:
- Are preparing for a special event, such as a wedding or job interview
- Want dazzling, noticeable results
- Want white, attractive teeth immediately
Take-home kits
For your convenience, we also offer customized take-home whitening kits. What sets our take-home kits apart from the kits you buy at the drugstore is (a) the trays are custom crafted to fit your teeth, whereas store-bought kits have generic trays which almost certainly will not fit your teeth; and (b) the whitening agent is stronger. So you will get beautiful, consistent results. Whitening your teeth at home is a more gradual process than in-office treatment.
The easiest way to use the take-home kit is to wear your trays while you sleep. Alternatively, you can wear them each day for 30 or 40 minutes, after which time the whitening gel stops working. Your teeth will look whiter in just a few days. Full results can take two to four weeks. The nice part about this gradual process is that your teeth appear to naturally get lighter over time, so no one has to know you are whitening your teeth.
Benefits of tooth whitening
Tooth discoloration can affect how you feel about yourself, and the impression you make on other people. Most people associate white, bright teeth with:
- Youth
- Good health
- Cleanliness
- Higher income
Discoloration can emphasize other dental flaws, such as crooked or misshapen teeth. Whitening your teeth can minimize the appearance of these flaws.
Tooth whitening is a painless, non-invasive treatment. It is a great starter procedure if you are new to cosmetic dentistry and want to see what it can do for you.
Tooth whitening can be a stand-alone treatment or part of a complete smile makeover. To learn more, please read our Tooth Whitening Questions.
